With over fifty books hidden in and around the town centre and thirteen literary characters the likes of whom included Sherlock Holmes, Mary Poppins, Katniss Everdeen, Willy Wonka, The Mad Hatter and Alice in Wonderland walking around the town added extra magic to our own Uxbridge literary wonderland.
The Uxbridge community loved being involved and the Love Uxbridge (Uxbridge BID) team loved taking part in the global World Book Day campaign, whilst adding our own special spin on it! Not even the rain could slow down our enthusiastic and enigmatic BID team and student actors as walked in and around the town centre from 11am to 1pm talking, posing for photos and more with interested passers-by. Local businesses and members of the community joined in with added eagerness and fervour and the response we had from members of the public was overwhelming. Comments like "this has made my day", "can you do this every year", "this is incredible", "we came into Uxbridge especially for this", "I really wanted to read this but couldn't afford to buy it" and more, truly made our day.
We just wanted to say thank you to the Uxbridge College students who played their literary counterparts to perfection and amazed both the adults and children of Uxbridge.
Thank you to our book elves for allowing us to hide book in and amongst your businesses: The flower Stall Uxbridge, intu Uxbridge, The Body Shop, Uxbridge Library, Uxbridge Train Station and The Pavilions.
