Business Spotlight: Horsepower Hairdressing, Our Story so far...

When I began cutting in a West Drayton barbers, I often stayed in the

evening to work on clients hair. In time, I became a co-owner, and the

caravan seemed like a lifetime ago.

A friend and client of mine often commented on my love for a good Harley

Davidson, and pretty much anything that had a bit of oomph. He suggested

the name 'Horsepower', and from that point, our brand was born.

In 2003, I began planning for the future, and how my next shop would be

bigger, and better than the rest. In April 2006, I sold my 50% share of

the other business, my Harley Davidsons, and anything else I could so I

could purchase a popular and well-located, traditional barbershop in

the centre of Uxbridge, on Windsor Street.

As it happens, two of our staff -- Sarah and Tracey -- were already

working there, and within a year we had refitted the shop, changing the

name above the door a short time later, expanding on the traditional

barbershop to include a ladies hair boutique.

This expansion has provided our customers with access to experienced

stylists that have both traditional barbering skills plus up-to-date

ladies salon services, including: cutting, styling, colour, hair-up, and

much more!

We continue to evolve, and the business has tripled in size to become

your local, family salon with an edge.

We aim to accommodate everything from mild to wild, from your first

haircut to your last.

... All with a little rock'n'roll thrown in, of course!

And the current page in our story:

Sadly, recent days have seen the salon close it's doors for several

months and, as with our neighbouring local businesses, we are holding on

and hope to weather the storm in true Horsepower style (likely on 2

wheels with a large engine). We are using the time wisely and

progressing our salon behind closed doors with it's stories being

published on our social media regularly, achieving plenty of tasks that

would normally happen out of hours, including our new look shop front

windows.

Being very community minded, we have already extended our regular 20%

Blue Light Discount for emergency service men and women to our treasured

NHS volunteers, applicable from the moment we start trading and even our

swear jar for Dementia UK is increasing in value, albeit virtually,

by our very honest staff.

We are also running various competitions and groups from our Facebook

page to engage with our community and keep spirits high. One of these is

our Locks off in the Lockdown competition (#locksofflockdown),

encouraging home hairdressing and offering £100 worth of Horsepower

prize vouchers for the best and worst attempts. A very handy prize to

fix any “mishaps†that may require professional attention. The entries

thus far are most likely leading to a hall of fame in the shop.

We hope to open soon, but still await official word from the powers that

be. We have produced extensive safety guidelines for the safety of our

staff and our customers alike and we have a telephone pre-booking

service in place which will have it's details announced when we open it.

Until such time as we can see our customers again, please feel free to

chat and stay up to date with us on our media platforms.

We wish everyone the best health and safe living.

Adam & everyone at Horsepower Hairdressing.
